Common questions

Answers people search for

How do I find an NDIS service provider in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney?

Start with the participant’s goals, support needs, preferred suburb, accessibility and funding. Eden Ability is based in Mascot and accepts enquiries from Bondi, Randwick, Maroubra, Mascot and surrounding Eastern Suburbs communities. Contact the referrals team to discuss current suitability and availability.

What is the difference between accommodation and disability support?

Accommodation is the physical home or temporary stay. Disability support is the assistance delivered by workers. SIL funds eligible in-home disability support; SDA funds an eligible specialist dwelling. Rent and ordinary household expenses are generally separate.

What should I ask a SIL provider before accepting a vacancy?

Ask about support ratios, active or inactive overnight support, worker skills, household compatibility, accessibility, routines, safeguarding, costs, service and tenancy agreements, and the transition process.

Can a support coordinator refer directly to Eden Ability?

Yes. With participant consent, support coordinators and recovery coaches can submit referral information directly. Include the target date, location, funding status, support needs, accessibility, equipment, risks and preferred household.

What does a hospital team need for an NDIS discharge referral?

Useful information includes discharge readiness and date, NDIS plan status, consent, support coordinator or nominee, daily and overnight support, clinical risks, equipment, medication, accessibility and the proposed next housing pathway.

Can MTA help when someone is ready to leave hospital?

Eligible NDIS participants may use Medium Term Accommodation as a temporary bridge while a longer-term home, SDA, SIL, ILO or home modifications are being arranged. Read our MTA information.

Is short-term accommodation the same as a holiday?

No. NDIS short-term accommodation relates to disability support needs and planned time apart from usual care arrangements. Current rules exclude holiday packages, airfares, meals and family travel costs. Read the respite and STA guide.

How quickly can a provider confirm a suitable placement?

Timing depends on a suitable vacancy and complete referral information. Clear details about funding, accessibility, support ratios, overnight needs, risks, equipment and the required date help the provider assess suitability faster.
